Open House on Pancha Kosha and Yoga
According to yogic scriptures, we exist as a five layered being called Pancha Kosha i.e., the physical, vital, emotional, intellectual, and spiritual layers. We co-exist in all these layers and our focus shifts between them depending on our activities and temperaments.
While Asanas, Kriyas, diet, and healthy lifestyle work on the physical layer of our personality, Pranayama, Bandhas, and Mudras work on the vital layer. Likewise, we have techniques of emotion culturing through positive affirmations, devotional sessions and other techniques for the manomaya (mind) layer. Similarly, a systematic paradigm shift in our notions of happiness (Ananda Mimamsa) and our sense of identity brings our intellectual layer into balance. Only when all the aspects of our being are addressed, can we then achieve total wellbeing. This total wellness is the source of happiness. When we are happy at the individual level, there will be joy in the family and harmony in our community.
