In this Webinar, we will discuss the History of Ayurveda, its origins and how the knowledge of life was passed on from generation to generation. We will cover the information mentioned in the Rigveda and how the non-codified oral traditions became codified as a knowledge system in the Samhita, Sangraha and Nighantu period. The speakers will talk about how Ayurveda has always been integrated into our day-to-day life with examples, including the relationship between Ayurveda and Yoga.

The period from 1947 onwards is the Contemporary period of Ayurveda and saw the development of the modern Bachelors of Ayurveda and Medical Surgery (BAMS) program modeled on the Bachelors of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) program. Ayurveda was introduced in the United States of America in the early 1970's with several key people involved in popularizing Ayurveda in everyday culture. Ayurveda associations also had an important role in promoting Ayurvedic remedies and therapies. This will lead into a discussion on the future of Ayurveda Education in this country.

Ayurveda could be an answer to the current pandemic of Chronic Diseases and Lifestyle disorders and be the Public Healthcare system that introduces households to Ayurvedic home remedies, lifestyle changes, recipes, and food choices. Food is indeed medicine! Lastly, the webinar will discuss how we can educate ourselves and incorporate Ayurveda in our day to day lives.
