Ishaa Dhamne and Ms Sneha Rao

Ishaa is a senior studying Marketing at the University of Minnesota. She is passionate about community building and creating nurturing environments where all people can thrive. As a proud Hindu American woman, she is committed to fostering open dialogue around complex issues within our communities. Sneha is a first-generation Hindu American immigrant to the US. She moved to the US when she was 13 with her parents. Sneha worked as an Engineer and Data Scientist in the Aviation business for over a decade before transitioning to study Hinduism, Yoga, Hinduphobia, and Decoloniality. Her transition was propelled when she became a mother and started thinking about how she wanted to raise her daughter. She deeply examined the ways in which American culture can be harmful to Hindu children and really started connecting to her Hindu roots. As a teenager growing up in the US, Sneha had struggled with issues of Hinduphobia and Assimilation into the larger American culture. She found strength in motherhood to learn and engage more deeply with Yoga and Dharmic philosophy. She found that Hinduphobia and Appropriation of Hindu Culture deeply affected her as a teenager growing up in the US and started articulating and writing about these issues on her social media and contributed articles to the Shaktitva Foundation journal. She co-founded the Hindus for Decolonization Group on Facebook to create a space for Decolonizing Hindu voices. She is dedicated to raising awareness about Hinduphobia and developing scholarship to educate the Hindu community about these issues.
